The Oscars Best and Worst Dressed!

Morning Sunshine's!  So it's been a long night for me! While most normal people were either tucked up in bed or out on the town I was busy following the baldest  the most glamorous and elegant, the sleekest, the chicest, the worst, the "what possibly made you think you looked good in that" and most of all THE BEST of this year's Oscars style from our Fashionistas!

BEST

Jessica Chastain looked sensational in this gold strapless gown by Giorgio Armani. Her pale skin tone and luscious red hair really work with this dress. Standing ovation for Jessica!  Plus I do love a bit of beading.

BEST

Charlize Theron looked white hot in this Christian Dior Haute Couture dress with Roger Vivier shoes and Harry Winston jewels. Personally I really love Theron's hair with this dress, she looks sexy but edgy.

   Worst

NO! NO! NO! Amy Adams wore this Oscar De La Renta dress. I'm flabbergasted. Everything from the colour (grey murky, dirty water look) to the ruffles and that hair is wrong!

Worst

Anne Hathaway you nearly knocked me out! Anne revealed a bit too much in this pale pink Prada dress. No one would expect Anne to be so bold on the red carpet but although this may have been a last minute dress and apparently those aren't her nipples, that doesn't mean much to us when we are gaping at your breasts.

BEST AND POSSIBLE WORST

This dress has definitely got me in two minds. When I first saw Jennifer Lawrence wearing this Dior Haute Couture gown on the red carpet I could tell it was a call for disaster. Which proved correct since waking up to headlines of poor Jennifer tripping on her way up to collecting her Oscar. Although I have to admit I do love this dress in pictures. Her lack of accessories really works.

BEST

Although I don't particularly love this dress I do adore Reese Witherspoon's hair in this look. Reese pulls off the old Hollywood glam look exceptionally well! I do think the train looks silly and I'm not a huge fan of that material but the colour looks fabulous on Reese especially with her blonde hair.

Which is your Oscar winning look?!

Stay glam, E xx

The Power Of The Hair Bun

Are you looking for a way to add that touch of class and elegance to an outfit?

I have just the solution!

Picture of Lauraanne McGlade (left) and Emma O Brien (right) rocking the hair buns
The hair bun is not only sophisticated, classy and elegant, it is also sexy and glamorous!

Here is how to give it a modern twist....

Accessorize your bun like Amanda Seyfried

Try Out Blake Lively's bohemian bun

Why not try out the coiled bun like Hailee Steinfeld

OR Olivia Wilde's super sleek top-knot bun, PERFECT for those hot summer days!

Whether it's an important business meeting, date night, night out on the town or just simply hitting the high street, arm yourselves girls with grips, hairspray, and don't forget the hair donut,(which can be purchased in Penny's).

The timeless bun is still going strong since it's first influence on women back in ancient Greece.

So go ahead and make that bun your own!

E x

P.S Here is a video to a short tutorial I found on youtube on how to make the "Perfect Bun"

The Moment We Have All Been Waiting For....

It seems like only yesterday it was announced that Rihanna would be releasing her own collection with British high street store River Island. One of the most anticipated events of London Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2013 took place last night and it has Rihanna's name all over it!

This is Rihanna's first collection to hit the runway and it definitely won't be her last. Our Barbados style goddess has done us proud! Her collection is very Rihanna, full of boyish, casual designs with denim tank tops worn with slouchy jeans were among some of the designs. I personally am so excited for the thigh-high slits which were featured heavily in the figure-hugging dresses and monochrome skirts.

Here is a video of Rihanna's collection with River Island on the runway at London Fashion Week 2013:

So what are you excited for? I know I can't wait for the yellow dress above and the beige co-ord! Also loving the denim on denim. Very Rihanna!

Hurry Up Autumn!!

Until Next Time, E x

New York Fashion Week Fall/Winter 2013

I know I haven't been too good with my blogging at the moment but the last few days have been a bit hectic. Since coming back from the big city I've started back at work in Olivia Boutique and I must admit I missed my little haven after a long month of chilling out and catching up with my girls. I've also been getting my portfolio ready for sending off to universities in England and Scotland. More about those hopeful dreams in a post coming soon!

First lets get down to the decorum of Zac Posen, the 90's making a comeback with leather and minimalism from Tibi, Diane von Furstenberg returning to her roots of her iconic wrap dress, the classic Jason Wu with "Extreme Femininity" and finally to the military aviation of Rag & Bone.

Zac Posen, Fall/Winter Collection at New York Fashion Week 2013.
This may have been Posen's smallest collection in years but how can you deny love for the elegance, the detailing, the decorum, the velvet and silk for this thoughtful and intellectual range. Like they say it is about the quality not quantity.  This collection is definitely one for a lady.

Zac Posen, Fall/Winter 2013

Amy Smilovic brought the 90's back to 2013 with Tibi! Tibi is known for it's basic and comfortable street wear but always with an edge of excitement and Autumn 2013 will be no different. This autumn will be full of quilted vests, leather leggings, architectural skirts,  and statement bold coats. Tibi, a new obsession of mine due to the minimalism of this collection. Keeping it simple but there is no doubt this collection will turn heads due to the fact it is effortlessly chic and modern.

Ok so I love this woman, Diane Von Furstenberg. Everything about this collection I LOVE, the silk, the wrap dresses, the velvet, the satin, I just want it all!!!!!!!! Her Autumn 2013 collection is one of glamour and femininity. Diane known for her iconic wrap dress from the 70's has gone back to where she began, her DNA and who else would pull off such an iconic look other than the most wanted supermodel in the world right now, Cara Delevingne!

This classic Wu collection is full of fur, leather, snakeskin and feathers. Yet Wu still manages to keep a sense of the fragile feminine with chiffon, lace and satin. His collection definitely lives up to its name "Extreme Femininity" !

Jason Wu, Fall Collection 2013

Finally lets take a quick look at Rag & Bone's Fall/Winter Collection 2013. Rag & Bone consisted of strong looks with textured fabrics and mini skirts to balance out the tougher military looks. Another collection I am now obsessed with due to the fact it is modern with a twist. Taking the usual menswear and making it feminine fit for a lady! (A favorite look of mine)

Ahhh now that was inspiring, get creative and plan your own closet for this Autumn/Winter!

Dublin Trip

It has been an eventful few days to say the least. City life definitely takes it out of you! From walking the endless streets of Dublin to the never ending amount of food I have consumed in the last few days I have never been so glad to be in my own bed. Considering I spent nearly every night on the floor of Alice's apartment that would be an understatement. I did manage to snap a few pics of my outfits throughout the trip. So here is a quick look of my Dublin Style:

Leather Shorts - Public Romace - Vintage Shop Galway
